Research Group:

The aim of our studies is the identification of cell-autonomous and -extrinsic factors governing maintenance of hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) and differentiation of immune cells, including the understanding of their homeostasis, e.g. their generation and turnover during steady-state and under inflammatory conditions. We further search for potential modifier genes of these functions by pursuing genome wide screens. Thus, the research of the laboratory focuses on uncovering basic mechanisms that regulate hematopoietic stem cell biology, and this understanding may pioneer novel translational approaches.
