The Biopolis Dresden Imaging Platform (BioDIP) as a project within the DRESDEN-concept e.V. constitutes a multi-institutional network of 8 core light- and electron microscopy facilities belonging to five research institutions.

We are a group of facilities providing open access to Advanced Microscopy Systems and Image Processing. We do serve internal as well as external users. The goal of this network is to join our forces and bring our knowledge and equipment closer together.

The BioDIP provides around 100 instruments, among them more than 40 large equipments and covers a broad range of modern imaging technologies such as:

• Wide-field fluorescence microscopy
• Laser scanning confocal microscopy
• Spinning disc confocal microscopy
• Two photon laser scanning microscopy
• Total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy (TIRF)
• Selective plane illumination microscopy (SPIM)
• Fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS)
• Fluorescence lifetime imgaging (FLIM)
• Superresolution light microscopy (structured illumination and dSTORM)
• High-throughput microscopy (HCS)
• Electron microscopy
• Correlative light and electron microscopy
• Electron tomography and
• Image analysis

The BioDIP was highly recommended to become a multimodal node for Advanced Light Microscopy within the Euro-BioImaging network, an initiative of the ESFRI roadmap of the European Union.
