Das Verständnis und die Beschreibung von Materie unter extremen Druck- und Temperaturbedingungen ist ein zentrales Anliegen der Abteilung. Im Rahmen des HIBEF (Helmholtz International Beamline for Extreme Fields at the European XFEL) Projektes wird eine Experimentierstation mit ultraintensiven Lasersystemen und gepulsten Hochfeld-Magnetspulen zur Verfügung stehen.

The understanding and description of matter under extreme pressure and temperature conditions is a central concern of the division.
