Short Description
Description
Functional characteristics
To meet the steadily growing requirements on as realistic as possible total vehicle models, as well as to analyze the interplay of the various vehicle components, the Fahrzeugtechnische Versuchszentrum Dresden (FVZ) uses a Suspension Motion Simulator (SMS).
The SMS is a servo-hydraulic test rig, which makes it possible to excite one axis of a vehicle on the stationary wheel or with the spindle couple adapter in four motions (x, y, z, steering angle) up to a frequency of 30 Hz. At the same time, the resulting movements are measured in six axles on the tire contact patch, on the wheel center and on the body. The forces and moments are measured on the tire contact patch and possibly regulated.
Emphasis of tests
- Complete vehicle research on Kinematics and Compliance (K & C) - static and dynamic
- Parameterization and validation of simulation models
- Vibration and transmission behavior up to 30 Hz (driving comfort and driving dynamics)
- Determination of substitute spring rate and friction analyzes on the entire vehicle or on vehicle axles
Measured quantities
- All 3 forces and 3 moments on the wheel platforms of a vehicle axle
- Vertical forces on the wheels of the second vehicle axle
- Position of the wheels, the body, the movable wheel platforms
- Further measured variables are possible: More than 20 analog inputs can be freely assigned
Miscellaneous
- Investigations are possible with fixed and freely oscillating vehicle body
- By activating or deactivating individual forces, maneuvers are possible which cannot be realized in the real driving test (for example, driving along a curve without lateral force).
-
This test bench is unique in the university sector. In combination with the other test benches of the IAD, there are therefore completely new possibilities for the definition of detailed vehicle models.
