Expertise

***********English***********

We explore the microscopic quantum world of interacting electron systems and are particularly interested in novel cooperative states of matter. We employ cutting-edge spectroscopy and scattering experiments, which we perform in our laboratories and at the world's most powerful synchrotron radiation sources. Our goal: To understand the studied effects and to explore their technological potential.

Our research in the field of quantum materials addresses central unresolved questions of condensed matter science by means of leading-edge x-ray scattering and spectroscopy experiments. We perform these experiments in our laboratory and at large scale facilities all over the world. The goal is always to reveal the many-body quantum physics at work and to aid the development of new devices concepts.

Our group is part of the collaborative research center “Correlated magnetism: From frustration to topology” (SFB 1143) and works within the research training school “Itinerant magnetism and superconductivity in intermetallic compounds” (GRK 1621). We are also active within the new cluster of excellence ct.qmat, which will start beginning of 2019. Furthermore, we and the IFW Dresden are running a new DRESDEN concept laboratory for "Advanced Imaging and Scattering Studies" (AIMS-lab).
