Gemeinsam bilden das frühere ISP und IFP seit April 2017 das neue Institut für Festkörper- und Materialphysik (IFMP).
Das Institut für Festkörper- und Materialphysik befaßt sich unter anderem mit der Entwicklung und Anwendung von Methoden zur Strukturaufklärung fester Körper bis zu atomarer Auflösung. Ziel ist die Korrelation von Struktur und physikalischen Eigenschaften.
