Die MOSAIC Gruppe betreibt Forschung und Lehre im wissenschaftlichen Rechnen für die Systembiologie.
Wir entwickeln Partikelmethoden für numerische Simulation, Bildverarbeitung und Modellidentifikation. Unsere Forschung ist theoretisch und rechenbetont. Wir führen keine eigenen Experimente durch und betreiben kein Labor. Jedoch arbeiten wir mit zahlreichen experimentellen Gruppen zusammen, um mit unseren Methoden zu helfen die Biologie voranzubringen.
Ein Mosaik ist "eine Kombination von diversen Elementen, welche ein einheitliches Ganzes bilden", ein Mosaik ist bunt und mehr als die Summe seiner Teile. Ein Mosaik lebt von den Synergien der individuell farbigen Kacheln. 
Dieser Name repräsentiert beides, wer wir sind und was wir machen: Die MOSAIC Gruppe verbindet Wissenschaftler verschiedenster Kulturen und akademischer Ausbildungen in einem interdisziplinären Team.

The MOSAIC group does research in Scientific Computing in Imaged-Based Computing Systems Biology.
We exploit the unifying framework of particle methods for numerical simulation, image analysis, and model identification. Our research is theoretical and computational. We do not perform own experiments and do not run a wet-lab. However, we collaborate with numerous experimental groups in order to apply our methods to help advance biology. A mosaic is "a combination of diverse elements forming a coherent whole", a mosaic is colorful and more than the sum of its parts. A mosaic lives from the synergies between the individually colored tiles. This name represents both what we are and what we do: the MOSAIC group combines researchers from several cultural and academic backgrounds in a truly interdisciplinary team that develops, teaches, and applies MOdels, Simulations, and Algorithms for Interdisciplinary Computing.
