Note:

In 2005, the “Zentrum für Demographischen Wandel (ZDW)“ was founded as a central scientific unit at the TU Dresden. It has processed successfully a considerable number of projects, studies and requests regarding the demographic change. After 10 years, the centre started to re-orient itself, and in 2016, the cooperation of numerous representatives of all five schools of TU Dresden led to the newly named competence centre, “Center for Demography and Diversity (CDD)”, to indicate the new focus on mutual impact of population development and heterogeneity.

Interdisciplinary Research and Consulting

The Dresden Center for Demographic Change dedicates itself to the interdisciplinary research of demographic trends, their causes and especially their consequences.
Following up to that the center is concerned with influence and control possibilities and the conception of instruments and measures to manage the challenges associated with demographic change.
On that basis the ZDW offers political advisory on various subject areas and scales.

The following areas are covered by the competences of the ZDW:

• Health, social security and social infrastructure
• Technical infrastructure and traffic
• Family, household and housing
• Economy, labour, education and research
• Urban and regional development.

The potential scope of the ZDW by far exceeds the issues that already have become the object of everyday public discussions.
