Welcome to the Biomolecular Synthesis Facility!

The Biomolecular Synthesis Facility provides services relating to the production of high quality peptides; ranging from synthesis and modifications to high throughput peptide array synthesis (SPOT method) for libraries. The other service of the platform is related to the synthesis of small molecules, for example screening hit resynthesis, optimization, etc.

Peptide and Peptidomimetic Synthesis

Native peptide synthesis

  • Using solid phase synthesis (SPPS) with Fmoc chemistry.
  • Peptide length: 2-50 amino acids
  • Standard scale: 20 µmol up to 1 mmol
  • Small combinatorial libraries (e.g.) 5-100 compounds)
  • Phosphorylated peptides (pSer, pThr, pTyr)

Labeled Peptides and modified Peptides

  • Biotin, dyes (e.g. Fluorescein, Cy3, Cy5, Atto, Tamra etx.), lipids
  • Cyclic peptides (e.g. S-S bonds)
  • Azide or alkyne modified peptides for click chemistry

Peptide array (600 & 1200 spots)

The SPOT synthesis is a method to generate large numbers of different peptides on cellulose membranes for use in arrays or screening libraries.

Small molecule synthesis

Medicinal Chemistry

  • Screening hit resynthesis for further validation. Respectively synthesis of tool compounds described in literature.
  • Hit optimization to improve the activity, selectivity etc.
  • Synthesis of larger amount of compounds for example for animal studies.

Synthesis of small molecules

  • Synthesis of designed molecules for labelling.
  • Resynthesis of compounds from literature.
  • Combine peptides with synthesized compounds.

 

How to become a user

If you are interested in using the biomolecular synthesis service, please follow the necessary steps:

  1. Contact the facility and describe the intended project (consultation). Please note that the facility does not only provide standardized services but also allows for personalised requests.
  2. The facility will then provide information on feasibility, time line and costs of the project (offer).
  3. If you would like to take advantage of the offer, please submit a signed form sheet „Kostenübernahmeerklärung“ (acceptance).
  4. Your project will be carried out according to the offer (realisation).
  5. An invoice will be issued by B CUBE (billing).

Charges for the use of services

The user has to pay for the services offered by the facility. The cost depends on type and extent of the service. As for biomelcular synthesis only a few services are standardized, please contact the facility for offers.
