Expertise

The Center for Demography and Diversity  provides well-founded scientific contributions to master the challenges arising from demographic changes and the increasing diversity in society (e.g. in companies, communities and regions). CDD developed from the Center on Demographic Changes (ZDW) and aims at becoming an interdisciplinary competence centre of TU Dresden with strong links to current practice and operating in the long-term.

CDD offers a broad forum for research, consulting, continuing education, and advanced training in the domains demography and diversity. Scientists research consequences from becoming older, identify reasons for shrinking of the (employed) population at the same time and are interested in the increase of diversity (in particular with respect to sex, sexual identity, disability, social background, culture, migration story, including age itself) as an outcome of demographic, societal, economic and political developments.

CDD presents its activities in the public and aims at supporting important societal values such as the right on equal opportunities, and the healthiness of population, and the ergonomic, health promoting and efficient design and re-design of work as well as a successful treatment of diversity. Our work aims at appropriate description of problems and their preventative handling. This requires interdisciplinary cooperation, bundling of research capacity and the development and use of both, intelligently designed engineering services and concepts for management.
