Die Professur für Behaviorale Epidemiologie beschäftigt sich mit der Verteilung und den verhaltensbezogenen und psychologischen einschließlich kognitiv-affektiven Determinanten von Gesundheit und Krankheit in der Bevölkerung, unter Berücksichtigung von Interaktionen mit genetischen und umweltbezogenen Faktoren.

Der Fokus liegt dabei auf den Bereichen:

• Psychische Störungen sowie psychologische und verhaltensbezogene Faktoren bei körperlichen Erkrankungen
• Identifizierung kritischer Entwicklungspfade und Trajektorien
• Identifizierung von Risiko- und Schutzfaktoren
• Prüfung von Kausalitäten im Rahmen translationaler Interventionsstudien (gezielte Prävention und Frühintervention)
• Versorgung und Identifikation von Barrieren für frühe Interventionen und Behandlungen

Die Forschungsprojekte an der Professur für Behaviorale Epidemiologie werden in folgenden, partiell überlappenden Arbeitsbereichen durchgeführt und infrastrukturell durch das Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Longitudinal Studies (CELOS), das Center for Preventive Intervention Studies (CEPRIS), die Institutsambulanz für Psychotherapie (IAP) sowie das Neuroimaging Center der Fachrichtung Psychologie (NIC) unterstützt.

The Chair of Behavioural Epidemiology focusses on psychological and behavioural factors, including cognitive-affective factors, in health and disease, considering interactions with genetic and social-environmental determinants.

The thematic focus is on:

• Mental disorders as well as somatic diseases associated with psychological and behavioral factors
• Identification of symptom pathways as well as their critical trajectories
• Identification of risk- and protective factors
• Examine causalities within the scope of translational intervention studies (targeted prevention and early intervention)
• Identification of barriers for early intervention and therapies

The research projects of the Behavioral Epidemiology Professorship are conducted in partially overlapping working areas and are structurally linked to and supported by the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Longitudinal Studies (CELOS), the Center for Preventive Intervention Studies (CEPRIS),  the outpatient center for psychotherapy (Institutsambulanz für Psychotherapie (IAP)), and the Neuroimaging Center of the Department of Psychology (NIC).
