Optimized application of various surface treatment processes

The activities include researching the behavior of materials, the development of technologies and the optimization of the application performance and the necessary system technology. Examples are:

  • process development for the application optimized surface hardening of martenstic steels and cast iron,
  • development of the surface precipitation hardening as a novel wear protection process,
  • development of novel processes to remelt and to alloy surface zones such as the inductively assisted laser remelting of cast iron and cast aluminum alloys as well as the laser gas alloying to harden the surface of titanium,
  • development of system components for specific surface treatment processes including the design of complete machines for special applications,
  • integration of surface heat treatment technologies in milling and turning centers.

  • surface precipitation hardening of precipitation hardenable materials
  • surface zone remelting and alloying
  • laser gas alloying of titanium materials
  • inductively assisted processes for the laser refinement of surfaces
