Die Kernkompetenzen der Arbeitsgruppe sind die Entwicklung neuer Spritztechnologien (z.B. Spritzen mit Suspensionen), die Entwicklung neuer Beschichtungslösungen (z.B. Schichtheizelemente, Thermoelektrische Module, Hartmetallschichten für hochbelastete Bauteile), sowie die Charakterisierung von Schichten (z.B. mit laserakustsischen Oberflächenwellen).

Leistungsangebot zum Thermischen Spritzen

Zum thermischen Beschichten von Bauteilen aus Stahl, Leichtmetallen, Keramiken, Beton und anderen Werkstoffen mit Metallen, Hartmetallen und Keramik stehen im IWS das atmosphärische (APS) und das Flamm- und Hochgeschwindigkeits-Flammspritzen (HVOF und HVAF) mit Pulvern und Suspensionen zur Verfügung.

In Kooperation mit weiteren Fraunhofer-Instituten in Dresden umfasst das Angebotsspektrum:

• Konzeption beanspruchungsgerechter Schichtsysteme,
• Entwicklung von vollständigen Beschichtungslösungen vom Werkstoff bis zum beschichteten Bauteil,
• Entwicklung und Fertigung von systemtechnischen Komponenten,
• Mitwirkung bei der Systemintegration,
• Unterstützung des Anwenders bei der Technologieeinführung.

The main frame of work of the Thermal Spraying group consists of the development of new spraying technologies (such as suspension spraying), new coating solutions (such as coatings for heating elements, thermoelectric modules or hard metal coatings for components subjected to high stress), as well as the characterization of coatings (for example, laser acoustic surface waves – Lawave®).

Service offers for thermal spraying

For the coating of components made of steel, light metals, ceramics, concrete, among others, atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) and high velocity spraying (HVOF and HVAF), using both powders and suspensions as feedstock, are available at IWS.

In cooperation with other Fraunhofer Institutes, the spectrum includes:

• design of appropriate coating systems for high stress situations
• tailored coating solutions: from material up to coated component
• development and manufacture of technical systems components
• assistance in the system integration
• support of the users for the technological implementation
